Dr. Caplin’s board certifications are through the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery, and the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She also specializes in gender reaffirmation procedures for transgender patients. Dr. Caplin has doctorate degrees in both medicine and dentistry, giving her special, comprehensive insight when it comes to facial procedures. She has authored multiple scientific papers and chapters published in a text book.
In her role as chief resident at the University of Florida, Dr. Caplin received a number of recognitions for her clinical ethics, kindness, and caring approach to patient care while performing highly complex surgeries. After completing her residency, she was accepted to a fellowship in cosmetic surgery under one of the leaders in the aesthetic industry, Dr. E. Antonio Mangubat. During this time, Dr. Caplin dedicated herself to perfecting advanced techniques with an emphasis on facial, breast, and abdominal treatments.
Her passion for surgery began with treating children with cranial facial disorders. She has volunteered on several mission trips to Central and South America to perform surgical corrections for patients with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial conditions. She is grateful for the talents which which God has given and feels it is a blessing to share with others. She hope to do more mission trips once her two year son is a bit older.
While not operating she enjoys spending time with her family. Dr. Caplin grew up in Orange Park, where her parents still reside. Her siblings are scattered around Jacksonville, and her and Dr. Nuveen’s son, Diederik loves to play with his 12 cousins! Her poodle Ruby Rose is also an important part of the family and often makes trips to the office. She is a strong Christian and participates in several Bible studies. Lastly, she is also an avid Jacksonville Jaguar and Florida Gator fan!
